June 27 & 28 - Grand Opening New Millstone Hill Touring Center and Shops & The Vermont Granite Museum at Millstone Hill
34 Church Hill Rd., Websterville (across from Post Office). The historic Millstone Hill General Store has been lovingly restored and as of June 27th, will serve as the starting point for exploring our 75 mile scenic recreational trail network. The store will be filled with an exiting collection of shops and a museum exhibit dedicated to showcasing the colorful history of the granite quarries at Millstone Hill. Click here for more details.
June 28 - Work Day – Perry Hill – we are working on Burning Spear. There will be two groups going out, one at 10 am - Hardy is leading this group at 10 am. Mike Ponte will be leading a group at 12 noon. Wear work boots, gloves, bring water, snack or food. The trail head is ½ way down the access road to the ice arena in Waterbury.
June 29 – Bike Rodeo – The Town of Stowe is sponsoring a session for kids to get their bikes and helmets checked out as well as give them a little basic training. We could use a few volunteers. This will run from 10:30 – 2 at the Jackson Arena. If you have kids, bring them down to have them go through the clinic and maybe help out a little while you are there. If you can help for a few hours, please do, they need some help. Just show up and help. It’s easy, really.
July
July 1 – Women’s Ride – Come join the Montpelier Women – WOW = Women on Wheels – who are coming to ride the Stowe Trails. Meet at the parking lot behind iRide at 5:30. Join everyone for pizza after the ride. I am leading the group. We did it last year and it was a very enjoyable easy paced ride. It’s amazing to me how some people can carry on conversations while riding their bikes???
July 4 – All sorts of things happening!
• 11am – SMBC Group Rides – In support of the town’ celebration, rides will be leaving from the center of town. Meet behind Shaw’s Supermarket on Route 100.
• Epic Ride - This will be an all day event. Bring extra legs! This ride is for fit and accomplished riders. Plan to be out for several hours and cover maximum terrain!
• Regular Group Ride – A slower paced more normal ride 1–3 hrs, depends on the group.
• 11:30am – Kids Bike Parade – Meet at the Gale Farm Rec Center to decorate your bike and be ready to ride at 11:30. Great family event. Prizes are being awarded!
• 4pm till dusk – Bike Park Session – Come ride the bike park, come watch, it should be a good time!
July 11 & 12 - Second Annual Vermont Mountain Bike Festival. This years event we will be leading rides in: Hinesburg Town Forest, Millstone, Waitsfield, Stowe and Waterbury. There will be sessions going on at the bike park as well. Food, shwag, lots of riding and a good time to be had. The fees have been reduced to get more locals involved. It is a great event and the proceeds go right back into the trails. Register here.
Saturday, July 18 - 8:30 AM - Boston Lot Lakeside Trail relocation project.
Meet at the Wilder Dam Picnic area on Rt 10. Tools will be available, but feel free to bring your own if desired.
Brief outline of the work involved.
• Clear, rake, and cut new connector trail tread. This new connector trail will connect Lakeside trail to the trails leading south to Mascoma Street Ext and Hemlock loop.
• Assist boy scouts with bridge building project on Lakeside trail. (Stone work)
• Rework trail tread at drainages and cut in a minor relocation of trail tread on Lakeside trail.
• Close off old connector trail to power lines. This badly eroded section will no longer be needed and will be allowed to recover.
We will need lots of extra hands to finish this project. I know there are quite a few riders out there that use these trails frequently. This will be a great chance for you to come out and help. Saturday, July 18 – 8:00 AM - Gile Mountain Trail - Norwich VT.
The Norwich Trails committee has requested assistance from the Mountain Bike Community. If you ride the Gile Mtn Trail frequently or just enjoy it occasionally please consider helping out with this ongoing work.
Meet at Gile Mountain Parking lot (off Turnpike Road). To continue work on the bike trail switchback climb up Gile Mountain. Items to bring include work gloves, insect repellent, drinking water. Tools will be available, but feel free to bring your own if desired. More Info Here.

August 6 - 9 - Sustainable Trail Design & Construction Workshops
Presented By The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew.
The training will take place at the Blueberry Hill Cross Country Ski Center www.blueberryhillinn.com in Goshen, Vermont. Goshen is located in the heart of the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area, an outstanding recreation resource within the Green Mountain National Forest.
The Trail Care Crew will present workshops on sustainable trail design and construction, while assisting with our partnership with the United State Forest Service. This event is not to be missed for those interested in designing and constructing sustainable trails, the event is free and all are welcome, bring your friends!

Saturday, August 22, 9am-5pm - Ladies Only Downhill Ride Day. Group sizes will be small and focused with the option to swap coaches and get different feedback over the course of the day. It's a womens event, minors will need a parent on-site to sign the waiver. It is open to anyone with mountain biking experience even if they have never downhilled per-se. Bikes with 6-8" front and rear suspension are highly recommended. Killington has rentals available for $50 per day. There will be an Apres party at the Lookout Bar and Grill after the gondola closes. The Event: Mountain Bike and running race up the highest mountain in Vermont on the famous Mt Mansfield Toll Road. This event will be limited to the first 800 registered racers. There will be a separate class for non-competitive participants.
The Course: The course is 4.3 miles long and climbs 2,550 vertical feet to the summit parking lot of the Mt. Mansfield Toll Road. The race course starts on pavement for .3 miles before changing to gravel for 4 miles. Racers will experience a steady incline throughout the course with a 10-degree maximum pitch. Saturday, September 12 - 4th Annual Kelly Brush Century Ride, Middlebury, Vermont. We are gearing up for another great Ride this year with Audi as a national sponsor, two of the most decorated Paralympians participating (read below for more on this exciting news!), and a new 100-mile loop for the Century riders.
